AI Agents · Best for legal and advisory
The Drafting Assistant, by Pylon Digital, is an AI drafting assistant for law firms and advisory practices. It prepares first drafts of letters, file notes and summaries from your instructions and, where Private AI is in place, from your own precedents. Every draft is marked as a draft and reviewed by a qualified person before use.

Is it right for you
The Drafting Assistant suits 10–100 person law firms and advisory practices where lawyers and advisers spend much of the day on routine letters, file notes and summaries. The usual trigger is senior people writing first drafts a junior could prepare, or file notes written days after the meeting.
They expect the lawyer to stay responsible for every word. A joint statement issued in December 2024 by the Law Society of NSW, the Legal Practice Board of Western Australia and the Victorian Legal Services Board + Commissioner says lawyers using AI to prepare documents must be able and qualified to personally verify what they contain, and warns against putting confidential client information into public AI chatbots.
Courts have added their own rules. As at September 2026, the Supreme Court of NSW’s Practice Note SC Gen 23, the Supreme Court of Victoria’s Practice Note SC Gen 25 and the Federal Court’s Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence Practice Note (GPN-AI) each expect practitioners to verify AI-assisted work, including that cited authorities exist. The Drafting Assistant is built around those expectations: it flags every authority, leaves evidence out of scope and records who reviewed each draft. This is general information, not legal advice.
The Drafting Assistant covers the first draft; your people cover the judgement. It is one of six AI agents for professional firms that Pylon Digital builds and runs on the same guardrails, and our guide to AI first drafts in law firms covers how to review them well.
Capabilities
You get a drafting agent configured to your document types, house style and review rules.
First drafts of client letters, letters to other parties and routine correspondence, in your house style and templates.
Draft file notes from dictation, rough notes or a meeting transcript, in your firm's format.
Summaries of documents, email chains and transcripts, with a reference to the page or message each point came from.
Where Private AI is in place, drafts start from your firm's own precedents and clauses rather than generic wording.
Every authority cited in a draft is flagged for a person to check against the original source.
Each output is marked as an AI-assisted draft, and the audit log records who reviewed and approved it.
Guardrails
The assistant writes first drafts. A qualified person reviews and approves each one, and stays responsible for it.
Process
The path is short and fixed: a discovery call, a scoped build and a supervised pilot, then a monthly service.
We look at the documents your people draft most, your precedents and how review works today.
We agree which letters, notes and summaries the assistant drafts, the house style, and who reviews each type.
We set up templates, connect Microsoft 365 and, where Private AI is in place, your precedent library, then test on past work.
A small group uses the assistant on live work. We tune drafts from their edits and confirm the review steps hold.
We host and monitor it under Managed AI and update templates as precedents change.
Integrations
Drafts arrive in Word and Outlook, where lawyers already work, with matter details drawn from your practice-management system where its integration options allow.
Security & data residency
Drafting means handling client instructions and documents, so the assistant works only with the people, matters and precedents you choose.
Pricing
Pricing model: Setup + monthly
Setup fee plus a monthly fee, both quoted in writing after the free discovery call. Setup depends on how many document types we configure and whether we connect a precedent library through Private AI. The monthly fee covers hosting, monitoring and template updates under Managed AI.
Illustrative example
Illustrative scenario: a senior associate in a wills and estates team dictates rough notes after each client meeting, and the file note is typed up days later. With the Drafting Assistant, she receives a draft file note in the firm's format and a draft follow-up letter built from the firm's own precedent. She corrects both, approves them and saves them to the matter, and the audit log records her review.
Commitments
These are the working rules behind every engagement, from the first discovery call to the monthly Run service. Ask us on the call how each one works for the system you have in mind.
Every build is scoped and priced in writing before work starts, so there are no open-ended hours.
Our AI agents draft; a person at your firm approves what they send. The After-hours Receptionist answers live only from wording your firm approves in advance.
Every action an agent takes is recorded in an audit log, so you can see exactly what it did.
Client data in the systems we build and run is stored in fully GDPR-compliant data centres.
Websites are designed and tested against WCAG 2.2 level AA and Google’s Core Web Vitals “good” thresholds.
A build can move straight onto a monthly Run service with us, so it is not handed over and forgotten.
Questions
The lawyer or adviser who reviews and approves it. The assistant prepares a first draft; a qualified person checks it, corrects it and decides whether to use it. Legal regulators in NSW, Victoria and Western Australia have said lawyers cannot rely on AI output as a substitute for their own assessment and must personally verify documents they prepare with AI, so review is built into every document type.
The assistant flags every case, statute and other authority in a draft so a person checks it against the original source before the document is used. Practice notes from the Supreme Court of NSW, the Supreme Court of Victoria and the Federal Court expect practitioners to confirm that cited authorities exist and support what is said, and the NSW practice note says that, for written submissions, the check cannot be done solely with an AI tool.
Yes, where Private AI is in place. Private AI lets your people ask questions of your own precedents, policies and procedures, and the Drafting Assistant starts from that library instead of generic wording. Without it, the assistant drafts from your templates, house style and instructions.
Not for evidence. The Supreme Court of NSW's practice note prohibits using generative AI to generate the content of affidavits, witness statements and character references, and requires leave before it is used for expert reports. The Supreme Court of Victoria requires particular caution with evidentiary documents. We configure the assistant for letters, file notes and summaries; your firm's AI policy governs any wider use.
It is priced as a setup fee plus a monthly fee, both quoted in writing after the free discovery call. The setup fee depends on how many document types we configure and whether we connect a precedent library through Private AI. The monthly fee covers hosting, monitoring, template updates and support under our Managed AI service.
